How can educators access the modules?

  • Educators have the opportunity to earn clock-hour credit for reviewing modules by registering for each module course through PDMS. The titles of the available courses are:
    • Teacher-Student Relationships Module
    • Student-Student Relationships Module
    • Bullying Module
    • School-Wide Student Engagement Module
  • Educators can also join the School Climate Professional Development group on Schoology to access all of the modules. The access code is 2P5NM-F56JT.
  • The relationship modules are available as PowerPoints on this website.

How can educators use the modules?

  • The goal of the SCSS online module series is to provide information to schools that can lead to improvements in school climate and behavioral outcomes for students.
  • Modules are presented in the form of either approximately hour-long PowerPoint sessions or videos with captions. These sessions provide educators with:
    • An overview of the module topic and why it is important
    • Recommended research-based strategies to improve specific topic area in schools
    • Resources and tools (available to download) to support the positive development of the topic areas
    • Research-based module narratives (except for the Team Leader Series) that serve as the basis for the PowerPoint sessions and focus on each topic in detail
  • Potential uses of the modules include:
    • In house professional development
    • Materials can be accessed for use as: a whole staff, in professional learning communities, leadership teams, and individuals
  • What’s available online?
    • Each module includes:
      • Module presentations in the form of either PowerPoints or Videos (with audio narrative)
        • PowerPoints include:
          • Slide narratives for the PowerPoints
          • Handout versions for note-taking
        • Videos include:
          • The same information as the PowerPoints broken down into smaller segments
          • Captions allow the presentations to be more accessible
      • Module research narratives
      • Links to resources that are referenced throughout the presentations
        • E.g., sample forms and worksheets, informational sheets and guides, useful tools, etc
